Getting the error “Information Store (3612) A remote (TCP/IP) based streaming backup was attempted. This functionality has been disabled by default settings.”

Whilst trying to backup an Exchange 2007 server with Asigra from our DS-Client we got this error

There is a quick fix!

Exchange 2007 SP1 will make a change that by default will not allow a remote streaming backup to function on standalone or clustered server.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
Name: Enable Remote Streaming Backup
Type: DWORD
Value: 0 = default behavior (remote backup disabled)
1 = remote backup enabled

and continue to backup!
